OPENING WEEKEND - GUN SEASON

Deer season has officially started. It was a busy weekend at the skinning pole. Fourteen deer were shot as of noon on Sunday. Eight bucks came in, three were buttons. Everybody did great checking their deer in. It all ran pretty smooth and never did get all bogged down with people having to wait to weigh their deer. Several children shot deer this weekend. Which was great to see. Starting from the top we have Scott Biehl and his two sons with an 8 pointer that he actually shot Saturday night and found Sunday. Congratulations Scott, he was truly excited. His two sons were also in the stand with him when he shot the buck. It does not get any better than that. Next we have Roger Petty with his 8 pointer, Butch Burrand with a 9 pointer, Luke Mills and Garrett Burch with does, Tristan Mixon with a 7 pointer, Madison Williams with her button and Dillon Brown with his 3 point buck. Great to see the kids get involved. I also noticed that last Sunday Al Godfrey shot a doe. Glad to see the Florida boys on the board. Big Rack is starting to work on a Fish Fry. Which we will announce the date when we get the details worked out. If anybody is interested in bringing any food, helping out, etc. see Shane Harness. Also keep in mind we will have a barbecue on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Which is also the day of the meeting for next years rules. Hope everybody can make it. There was also some more work done around camp. Thanks to all the guys that dug the ditch to put in the drain system for the skinning pad. Also thanks to Paul Burdette and Nolan Kell for installing the gutters on the shed. Butch built some nice benches to go around the fire barrel. Thanks everybody, I would say that this weekend was a great success with not only taking deer but the camp atmosphere was great. Feels like old times. I along with the committee feel that hunting is on the decline. With these new rule changes not only does it lets us all have a great time, more importantly we are instilling hunting tradition in our children who are the Big Rack hunters of the future. See you in the woods next weekend.

EXCELLENT WEEKEND....LIKE KEVIN STATED ON THE BLOG, THE ATMOSPHERE WAS GREAT. THAT IS WHAT MAKES FOR A GOOD HUNTING CLUB. ALL THE MEMBERS COMING TOGETHER AS A WHOLE. I WAS VERY EXCITED ABOUT ALL THE KIDS THAT HARVESTED DEER THIS WEEKEND. I THINK BIG RACK IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK OF BECOMING A CLUB THAT EVERYONE WOULD WANT TO BE A PART OF...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Great to see the pictures and commentary to let us know what goes on around the camp (especially when we aren't there). Keep up the good work!
