WEEK 3 - KIDS WEEK

Where do we start. It was a very busy week at the woods. Lots of things going on. First Big Rack put on a shrimp boil on Friday night. It was a big success. We figured around forty people were there to eat, including the Florida guys. We posted a few pictures. Everything was great, food and comradery. Thanks again to Shane Harness and Jerry Hobbs for all there hard work. Speaking of work, we want to thank Paul Abbott for painting the skinning pole steel for us. It was a great weekend for kids in general and especially children taking their first deer ever. The top picture is all five of them shown together.Believe it or not if you took a child with you on Saturday night you were guaranteed a deer. They all shot them on the same night. All were first time kills except for one. Starting off we have Tyler Biehl with his first doe. Then we have Hannah Reagan with her first spike. Next is Austin Shaffer with his first doe. Little miss Jordan Mixon is next in line with her first doe. Last but not least is Ryan Holtzclaw with his doe. Congratulations to all you guys. I did notice there was a lot of proud parents standing around.

Now to the bucks shot this week. Andy Mixon started it off on Monday with a nice 10 pointer. Congratulations! Andy has been waiting eight years for that buck. I am sure it was one of the many borderline shooters (12 to 14 inch deer) that he has let walk the last couple of years. That is how you Trophy hunt. Shown with the white truck. Wednesday Tony Roberts shot an 8 pointer with a 17 1/2 inch inside spread. Shown at the skinning pole. Then Friday morning two bucks came in. One shot by Heidi Burdette and Wayne Bates. Heidi took a nice main frame 10 with 12 points. Wayne shot a tall tine 9 pointer. Wayne is shown with the red truck. Sunday Jimmy Roberts took an 8 pointer with a 16 5/8 inside spread. Congratulations Mr. Jimmy. He is the last one shown. Also this week, just as important or actually maybe more David Presnell, Leland Burdette, and Todd Hobbs all took does. Paul Burdette was showing me the jaw bone of the doe that Al Godfrey took on October the 21. The chart only goes to 6 1/2 years of age. This does teeth are worn almost right to her jaw bone. That doe lived a long life. She had to be 7,8,9 years old. The chart of the 6 1/2 year old still has some teeth. If you get a chance look at the jaw bone. I just thought it was interesting. Just a reminder to everybody to keep their pets on a leash. Great week, great season so far. See you at the woods.
