SMOKEPOLES/KIDS & RIFLES

The kids did most of the shooting this weekend. Primitive weapons started this last weekend and kids under 16 could use rifles and it looks like the kids took advantage of that. First picture we have Spencer Holquist and his very first buck and below that he took his first unassisted doe. Which means no daddy help. Congratulations Spencer you were a busy hunter this weekend. Next is Hunter Black my grandson with his first ever buck. His first name says it all. At six he has already taken two does and this buck. Congratulations Hunter nice deer. Both boys were really exited. Ten year old Mason Johnson also shot a doe Saturday, he is shown just above. There were seven deer in all taken this weekend. Kevin Donaghy, Steve Moody and Terry Renfroe all shot does. Over all a good start, next weekend is the firearm opener. Someone told me a couple of kids were playing behind camp all the way back in the back. Guys it is firearm season kids do not need to leave camp. Not only is it courteous but it is dangerous. Also had another hunter complaining about someone using a chain saw in the woods during the evening hunt. Again please be courteous, if you are trimming during the season use a hand saw trimmer, you had all year to use the chain saw. Now I feel like the season has begun, a little complaining and a lot of shooting. I expect next weekend will even be busier and the weather is shaping up nicely too, so see ya at the woods.
