WEEK 4&5 RUT

The week of November the 1st was still slow for the big bucks but last week they started moving. Terry Renfroe did manage to take the 7 pointer shown just above on Thursday. Then we had some more does taken by Al Godfrey, Milo Parks, Larry Gardner, Kyle Biehl, Al Godfrey again, William Boatwright and Susan Mixon. Then Bryce Kubicok and Tyler Biehl, the first two pictures, both took their very first buck, congratulations guys. Mike Baldwin shot a 7 pointer on the 9th, Tuesday. Mike Roberts (country) shot a 12 pointer shown below, he is the one in orange. He shot his last Friday as did Al Godfrey, who took an 8 pointer, it is not shown. Also on Friday Hunter Black ,my grandson shown with his dad above, took his very first deer ever, a doe, taken at the young age of 5 years old, WOW! Congratulations Hunter. Then Saturday Mike Feagan took the nice 9 pointer shown just below, the same day Garrett Burch took an 8 pointer shown on the trailer. Rusty Boatwright also took a doe Saturday. Then on Sunday Paul Abbott took a nice 10 pointer shown above. That was three that scored over 12o inches taken in the last five days. The big ones are up and moving. Guys remember to fill out all the information in the deer log, milk for does etc. Bucks have a score sheet at the back of the book, all bucks must be scored on those sheets not the ones in the front of the book. So please make sure you get all the information we need ask someone if you need to . Looks like the gates are being closed pretty regularly, just a reminder because I found a dead deer on the dirt road just inside the gate where someone apparently poached it on the road. We can not control the main road but we can keep them off the property. We wanted to thank the people for the donations for the camp gravel and especially Nolan for bringing his tractor all the way down just to spread it all out, thanks Nolan. Thanksgiving barbecue will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving(Nov.27) along with our annual meeting. We need a head count, call or email Shane and let him know if you plan to attend so we have enough food. I know some of the bucks taken are being mounted but make sure you get the right side jaw bones for our records, it is mandatory. It seems to be a slow start this year but in fact it is not. With trophy management the small ones should walk and only the trophy should come into the skinning shed and you guys have done a great job letting them walk this year. We can see a big difference and several guys I have talked to have seen more bucks this year than they ever have, also I have heard reports of shooter bucks feeding in their food plots in the day time. That shows they are not as pressured by being shot at. So I am seeing change this year with the QDMA regulation beginning to show proof. This should be another good weekend, see ya at the woods.
